Angie is a yellow angelfish with gray stripes, periwinkle fins, a periwinkle tail, and a yellow halo. She is unlocked after completing Tank 4-4.

Audio[]

Sound Description
Angie reviving a fish.

Behavior[]

Angie swims around the tank aimlessly until any fish has been killed. If the fish has left a corpse, Angie will attempt to slowly swim over to the corpse and revive it. Angie revives corpses on contact (requiring no extra time), restoring it to life in a non-hungry state. If a fish dies without leaving a corpse such as being eaten by aliens that eat fish (i.e. Sylvester, Balrog, Gus, Psychosquid, Bilaterus) and predators (i.e. Carnivores, Guppycrunchers, Ultravores) or Gash, or a corpse vanishes at the bottom of the tank, Angie cannot revive these fish.

Strategy[]

Strengths[]

Any fish type can be revived by Angie any number of times, and any manner of death that leaves a corpse can be reversed (starvation, Shrapnel bomb, Amp, etc.). Thus, Angie can find a use at any stage of the game, allowing players to cut corners on feeding, to compensate for dangerous pets, to deal with projectile Aliens, and even (theoretically) revive an entire Tank's worth of clumped corpses at once.

Weaknesses[]

However, remember that Angie moves slowly and relies on direct contact with an intact corpse; this means Angie struggles with spread-out corpses (Amp or many fishes dying of hunger), fish lingering on the bottom of the tank, corpses that are far away from her, and with bottom-dwelling fish (Starcatcher and Guppycruncher), and any fish that are eaten (aliens that eat fish or Gash) are beyond saving. If a fish dies and Angie tries to revive it but the other one dies, Angie may divert her attention on other fish's corpse and ignore the one that she is supposedly to revive which makes the fish that she will supposed to be revived may not be revived at all.

Potential Uses[]

Synergies[]

When paired with Amp, any electrocuted guppy reached by Angie can be refunded. Though Amp sends all corpses to the top of the tank, Angie's slow movement limits the amount of falling corpses that can be reached. Thus, this strategy can become more effective when using Presto as a second Angie, particularly if each Angie is on a separate side of the tank, or if guppies have been clumped together in some way, such as by food or Wadsworth/Gumbo (immediately post-Alien attack).

As a "Defense" pet[]

Attacks by Destructor or Ulysses can be reversed by Angie since these projectile-based aliens do not eat fish (Tanks 2-4). Angie can mitigate the risk of Ulysses eliminating guppies clustered by Gumbo, as Angie can pass over the entire clump at once.

As a food alternative[]

All corpses touched by Angie are revived in a fully-fed state. This means that Angie can more easily deal with large numbers of hungry fish than Zorf, reviving hungry fish attracted by food but who don't quite make it. Also, Angie does not rely on food pellets, allowing her to maintain fish other than guppies and breeders.

Fish kept full by Angie will not grow but will generate money, even apex predators like the Beetlemuncher & Ultravore. Thus, such a high-value fish could be kept alive indefinitely without upkeep, provided the player is willing to risk Angie not being close enough to save them each time they starve.

Story[]

THE STORY OF
ANGIE THE ANGELFISH
Angie
To most fans, ANGIE can do no wrong. But to a few there will
always be the question: Why did she save this fish but not that one? How does she make her fateful decision? ANGIE responds
that she tries to save all fish but for some, it was simply their time to
go. "After all, if the entire tank were saved then the frame rate
would go down."

Trivia[]

Insaniquarium 2 still alive

Angie purposefully sat out of the fight

  • Angie is based on a real life freshwater angelfish (Pterophyllum), a cichlid native to south america.
  • The halo above Angie's head periodically disappears and reappears.
  • Angie was excluded from the final battle to revive the other pets in the aftermath.
  • If more than 15 pets died in Tank 5, Angie will only revive 15 of them in the credits.
  • Angie shares the reviving ability with Intensive Carrot from Plants vs. Zombies 2, a game published by Electronic Arts and also produced by PopCap Games.
  • On Angie's story, she broke the fourth wall by saying "[a]fter all, if the entire fish were saved then the frame rate would go down." This was referring to the fact that the computer would lag if there were too many fish in the tank.
