You have to make sure that the deflected energy balls don't hit any fish (but towards the edges of the tank or at another alien) while you're fighting him.

Ulysses is a limestone (or mud) cyclops with the idea similar to Destructor: "Destroy all fish!"

Ulysses

Ulysses, the muddy cyclops

Ulysses, like Destructor, is confined to the bottom of the tank, only instead of three missles, he periodically fires two magic fish-seeking energy balls. These balls don't get destroyed when fired at, but they get deflected and become "live". Any Fish that gets hit with any of these energy balls gets killed instantly. You have to make sure that the deflected energy balls don't hit any fish (but towards the edges of the tank or at another alien) while you're fighting him.

NOTE: Since he takes a lot of hits from lasers, deflecting Ulysses' energy balls back at him will make him lose a big chunk of his health (probably 1/6 of it). I suggest it as the best strategy.

In the fight with Cyrax you can use this same strategy against him (Cyrax).

Ulysses is a "Type-U" alien. He's usually accompanied with Destructor in Tank 4-4 and 4-5. It's quite clear that Cyrax made them join together.

  • His story states that he does not make auto-empowered orbs because he has a code of loyalty, but mostly because he's dumb. Lance Curry of Rougemont, NC did not like this "smart" remark (Ulysses being dumb).
  • People make a sandbox game that requires Wadsworth, Blip (optional), and Angie (future) to play, put Ulysses in the tank, then put a bunch of fish of your choice (excluding small guppies and breeders) then make ulysses throw an orb at fish, then deflect them. when all targets are killed, a new level starts. after each 3 levels, add one angie to the tank for an extra challenge. when ulysses is killed, the game is over.
  • In Insaniqualien Deluxe: the revenge of the fish, Ulysses takes the place of the GuppyCruncher.
